I have a chicken which only laid for the first year she is now 4 and is really healthy bird but no eggs why ? Also her friend passed away recently would it be wise to get another or not thanks

Sorry your bird has stopped laying. Lots of things could be going on here. She could be out of yolks, she could be stressed, her diet is poor, she has something going on internally. You say she is healthy so it probably isn't internal laying. She could be laying in a secret nest you don't know about or she could even be eating them.

But if she lost her only buddy, she will mourn the loss and does need some friends at some point.

Hello and Welcome To BYC! X2 on getting some friends for you hen, chickens do usually like to have company. Depending on what breed she is, some just don't lay very many eggs, and older birds especially often will not lay in the colder months at all.
