When i bought my chickens, I was told these do not mold. And indeed ! They are approximatly 3 years old, and have never molted. They're mixed new hampshire and rhode island red. I can't find a lot of information about non-molting chickens. I was wondering if anyone here has experience or knowledge about this? And if so... One of my girls lost a lot of feathers due to feather mite (or lice). Will they ever grow back? It has been more than a year now, and still no recovery of feathers.

Are you positive they had pests...did you see them crawling on the birds?
Did you treat them, if so, with what?
What breed of birds are they?
Pics would help here.

They molt. Someone fed you some incorrect information. Look into treatments for external parasites. A picture of effected birds and the parasites would be good. Most I deal with can be controlled with access to a good dust and a roost exposed to the elements.

Hi aart, i was not sure what it was. Only one bird had it. Her feathers are ragged, and missing on her bum and thighs. I didn't spot any bugs. I have tried dm, als tried 404spray and a peremytrin-type spray.

Then i waited, and it did not get better, or worse. Other chickens have no problems. When i took the pictures, i noticed regrowing feathers. So that is good news i think!
