I have a small back yard flock (12 hens) and want to try hatching this year. Im going to try to purchase hatching eggs locally. i only want to do a small hatch. Which is the best for ease of use to someone who has never done it before, Brinsea Mini II? Thats my first choice so far but before I order on amazon just want to put this out there...Thanks!

I LOVE my Brinsea 7. (Got brand new from Tractor Supply at end-of-year clearance for $48!!) Today I am hatching out the last 2 eggs (pipped) of 7 from my flock!!

It is literally set-it-and-forget-it. Add water every 2-3 days for humidity and turn off rotation @ 3 day countdown.
Thanks for your reply but now after looking again on amazon there are two different ones that hold 7 eggs one is like $189 and the other is about $329 or something. I was willing to go for it at $189 but $329 is way steep to hatch out just 7 eggs at a time. When did you get the one from TSC? was it last summer or something?

Try hatching under a broody! Set the eggs and she does all the rest! ;)
I incubate every year in my classroom for my students. Last year I also decided to finally let one of my broodies sit. It is so much easier! :celebrate
Good luck!

It was May-June I believe. I also got an Ecoglow (the small one) for $25. It was a lucky trip!!

Amazon isnt always the cheapest place to buy things. Have you compared prices on other sites?

www.strombergschickens.com/product/Mini-Incubators-By-Brinsea/Brinsea-Poultry-Incubators

$101 dollars for the mini on Strombergs.
Just checked it out and Strombergs was more for the one I was looking at. The $101 price was for one that you have to do the turning manually and I want the automatic turning one which was more at Strombergs and not sure if they have a delivery charge on top. But it was worth a shot to check it out. Thanks for making it easy for me by supplying the link :thumbsup

I have found brand-new Brinseas on eBay for much cheaper, so you might want to check that out. I absolutely love my Brinsea incubators, but then again I've only tried a couple other brands. As someone who regularly hatches out chicks, it's a good investment for me, but for just a couple chicks every few years, you might want to go another route. Best of luck to you (and your future hatches!).
