Noobie :)

It's a small world. I lived in Steger then Chicago Heights for 9 years before moving to Minnesota.

I am very worried about the pain and quality of life. She broke through her confinement twice yesterday to be with her sisters so I am just going to leave her there. I can't see taking away her happiness if she's not going to live long. I'll let her just be as normal as she can be until she can't do it anymore. She has a vet appt. tomorrow. This has made me very afraid of keeping the rest of my chickens. By reading here and other sites, it sounds like its common for them to hurt their legs and become lame. I don't know if I can deal with the stress of this again. Maybe I should just find a good home for them.

The BYC site is great but it can be a double edged sword. We gets lots of information when we look for answers to medical questions but the abundance of info can make use worry because the problems sound a lot more common than they actually are. Not too different from a expectant mom reading up on pregnancy and then worrying about all the things that could go wrong. If it is any consolation, I don't think leg problems are very frequent. I've had quite a few chickens now and none of them have had a tendon problem. It is unlikely that your other chickens will experience the same problem.

If she is breaking out to be with her sisters then she has the will to live

Thank you

Thank you. That makes me feel better. I am very attached to them so i think i would have a terrible time giving them up. Daisy just has me feeling pretty sad. I let her out with the rest of them this morning and she had a great time dust bathing and hanging out, even had a worm treat. She seems happy. I'm afraid to hear what the vet has to say tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day.
