Does anyone else live a town where the stores, shops close at noon on Thursday? I really needed a floor jack today and found out for the first time since we moved here that many of the shops close at noon. It is a throwback to a simpler time which is why we moved here in the first place. Simpler is great if you can mentally adjust to the fact that you just can't have it today. I had rented a zero turn mower and as whatever would have it, got a flat tire. By myself and with no jack, it was a bit riskier to tie a rope to the mower and lift it with by pulling it with my truck. It worked fine this time, flat fixed. Friday is floor jack day and of course the Third of July - which we all should celebrate. Oh yeah, anyone else out there living in a small town like Woodville?

Yep, good luck with anything being open on the 3rd of july! Here in Sidney, everyone in closed tomorrow

three day weekend!
Enjoy

Used to be Noon on Wed back in my home town in NJ. Something about that was the day that new goods came into port in the old days and the shop owners would go to pick the new stuff up then.

Hey what a coincidence - I live in a small town named Woodville and our shops have been known to close at noon on Thursday.

We live in a small town as well. They don't close on thursdays but they do on saturday. You would think they would want the weekend trade but if you need it on saturday you better get there early

Our pharmacy and gift shop closes at 2 on Saturday, the only grocery closes at 7. It makes you plan ahead or as some threads have discussed, fasting at times. There's a Sonic, they make one of the blandest hamburgers known to man there so it is only in cases of imminent death from starvation that I would suggest eating one. You might die anyway as I am not too sure what is in one of those burgers.
