A Rant from the desk of the Crazy H-Bar Ranch;
I have had it with chicken people and their "normal". People are always asking, "My lil Pepples just laid her first egg and it's pointed on one end. Is this normal?", "My little bantom just pooped a ginormously big poop. Is this normal?" Come on people? We raise chickens in our backyard..... none of us are "normal". Nothing we do while raising our chickens is normal. Don't believe me..... ok, How many chicken mommas have walked around with a baby chick in their bra? Raise your hands..... I see some of you are hiding, but we can dig up the post where YOU posted a pic of that lil chick poking its head from your cleavage. That is NOT normal. Yes, we are all in denial. Just for fun I searched on BYC the word "normal". Can you guess what I found? 115,018 threads and 265445 posts that contain the word normal. There are very few normal things when it comes to raising chickens. But here are some (feel free to add to this list) normal things; poop stinks, it sticks to your shoes, friends and family will roll their eyes at you at some point, talking to your chickens in that baby voice (Susan), chicken math is real and normal, chicken laws however unrealistic they are are normal and how many of us ignore those laws...is normal ( Julie) lol, and last but not least you will have a rooster. No matter what we see or find in our chicken world...... normal it is not! If you don't believe that you are not normal, how would you explain why you read this article all the way to the end... We the un-normal! Simply reply; I am!

Too funny. My motto is: Why be normal?

I guess I sometimes wonder if my chickens are "normal" given their current situation. But perhaps the word "healthy" is a more appropriate word, because that is what I really care about.
