Hi everyone! I am really new at raising and caring for chickens. Even though I grew up on a farm down east, and we did have chickens when I was young, I never really did much besides collect eggs. We only had the chickens for a couple years, so I have very limited experience. Once my DH decided we HAD to have chickens so we could have fresh eggs, it became my job to do the research and figure out what we needed to do since I had the "experience."

So, I found this great website and have been finding some wonderful information and after stalking for a week or so, here I am!

I live near Fuquay-Varina out in the middle of nowhere and my husband is building our coop as we speak. I have 8 baby chicks in my home made brooder which is in my laundry room. I have 5 Black Star Sex Linked and 3 Americanas. The Black Star are already about 3 weeks old and the Americanas are almost 2 weeks. So far, everyone is doing good.

I look forward to meeting all the other chicken lovers and welcome any advice anyone could give.
