I’m in the north Texas area teaching and learning self sustainability on a 1/3 acre lake lot in a small lake community. We are smack dab in the middle of nowhere but minutes to the lake. We get a lot of traffic in the peak seasons so we have a lot of visitors to our homestead. We are raising 27 chickens, 4 dogs, 4 cats, two teens (one is headed to college in less than a month!) and support local farmers where we can’t provide for ourselves (beef/dairy primarily). I raise or grow 70% of all of our family’s grocery needs and teach foodscaping to locals. We are also ALMOST debt free!
