Looking to rehome my female pekin duck, Mighty. She is unfortunately a very noisy duck, and therefore has been causing issues with neighbors as she begins making noise around 6 AM. I have kept her around for as long as I can, going so far as to stay outside with her for hours until she calms down. Sometimes she wants food or new water in her bucket, but other times Mighty just wants attention despite having 5 chickens alongside her. However, no matter how much attention and time I spend with her she still makes excessive noise to the point where nothing stops her. I considered getting another duck to spend time with her outside, but I fear that might backfire and then I'd have two noisy ducks that keep up the neighborhood. Please, if you or someone you know has home for a pet duck, and the land where she wouldn't become a nuisance bird, share this post or perhaps welcome her into your home. I'm located in Elk Grove, CA.

Thank you.

Just an introduction

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Yes I am fairly new, although I come from a family of hard core farmers and was around chickens and Roos as a child
Just obtained our first chickens a month ago

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Three hens (hopefully)
A Lope hen who is laying
A Buff Rock Pullet hen - 4-5 mos
An EE - 4-5 mos Pullet hen (crossing fingers)

The previous owner gave the Lope two chicks feeling she was just too broody and felt it would help her. It resulted in a fairly tight knit threesome with the chickens having trouble being separated from the Lope (Seen as their Mama)

(3) What breeds do you have?

Lope, EE and Buff Rock

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Searching about chickens

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening - until hurricane chicken visited the garden haha
Cat shows - have a pedigree TICA altered Champ
Mild to moderate hiking
Travel
Many more

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

The first on my maternal side to be born in a hospital.. the rest were born on a Kansas farm along with their parents before them and so on. My mothers family moved to Northern California and then to Oregon, where they continued to farm

I consider myself a Northern California Gal - lived in Sonoma county for many moons until I landed here in what I call NorthEastbay CoCo County Martinez CA

Have three cats - Pandora, Cloe and Quimby

The hens names are
Lope - Gerta
EE- Elsa
Buff Rock - Ana

I try to feed the chickens what I grow in my garden - sunflower seeds, buckwheat, Clover, fruit, lettuce, kale, collard greens, and corn
I also try to use the herbs and potpourri type plants and flowers in my garden along with citronella as bedding for the coop to help with scent and compost of course :)
I do understand this idea and process is easier with just three chickens haha
I've attached pics of the hens arriving in "Sir Quimby's" kennel - he was wide eyed upon arrival now he thinks he's a chicken herder

Hope I did this correctly?

I have 2 free Khaki Campbell drakes available for free. I am located in the Riverside Ca area. They are sweet drakes. I am rehoming them for free. I hope to find them a good home.
