Northwest GA/East AL Swap ***MAY 15 BUCHANAN, GA*** Ya'll Come!!!!

I didn't make it. Had a weird illness crop up in my brooders a few days ago and figured it would be best if I stayed far far away from large groups of chickens. What a bummer! I wanted to buy lots of babies

Well folks, for those of you who did come out for the swap today THANK YOU!! As for those of you that said you were coming but did not, your loss. The same ones that came out in Oct. were the same ones that came out this time. We thought the weather had played a part in the attendance for Oct swap but obviously it did not - because the weather was perfect today and the attendance was awful! The venue in Buchanan could not be a better choice - it has plenty of parking, covered arena that could hold 50 vendors easily, restrooms, concessions all at a cost of $3 per vendor (which goes to support youth in the 4H program). This building rents for around $250 per day, they offer this to us to help raise money for the program. It is a puzzle to us to know what keeps folks from coming out to Buchanan but if it is the cost of the $3 then I guess you should stay at home. The ones that did come brought a lot of chickens & went home with a lot of chickens. It takes a lot of work to get ready to bring chickens to something like this and for what - nothing???? It is a shame that people drive 2 hours bringing birds that you BYCer's have requested and then you just don't show. If this sounds like we are upset it is because we are! We are very disappointed and to an extent embarrassed with our fellow BYCer's!! At this point we will not have any more swaps at this venue - we will not even ask. And as the way we feel right now you will not be seeing any more of us on BYC.

We do want to acknowledge and say something to the ones that did come & bring birds - Roy, Shannon, Roxanne, and Barbara, if any of you need anything from us please don't hesitate to call. We will be more than happy to help you in any way. We know you took a lot of time preparing to come and was hoping for bigger turn out, but it was not and for that we apologize to you. We want you to know how much we appreciate you and your support of our youth. We did enjoy the fellowship with you.

Goodness TribleB, I think you are being a little harsh. I wanted to come, but knew from the onset that it would be hard for me to make the trip. I knew I didnt have anything to sell, and found it hard to justify a 7hr roundtrip just to pickup one rooster. Like others, I have a lot of things I prioritize before going to swap meets. Work, Grandkids little league, the honeydo lists, ect. Since I travel away from home everyweek, sometimes I just want to stay at home and dont feel like doing anymore driveing. My point is, whenevery you plan a event, all you can do is let people know and hope they can attend and be happy with the turnout that does show up. You cant make people showup or change anything they choose to do. Crying over spilled milk wont fill the glass back up or clean up the mess. Getting mad at the members here or stopping participation in this forum isnt going to change how the event turned out yesterday, nor will it entice members to show up at the next one. Just my .02cents

Ditto what's going on around here? I have two brooder's running right now one for sick babies and one for the healthy rambunctious ones and if I see any sign of a healthy one getting ill I put 'em in the quarentine brooder so far one has pulled through, one has died and two are still hanging on... I was planning on attending and buying lots of chickies but I did not post anything about coming. And I still feel really bad Triple B I'm just starting out and I can only imagine how much preparation it takes to do chicken swaps/ meets.

P.s. should I be seperating them like this? I don't want my whole batch of fuzzy butts to die!
