I have a rooster by the name of Cogburn. I can't keep him out of the house. He loves to come in and watch TV. All of my chickens are free range, so it wouldn't be right to cage him. Is it unsanitary to let him do this.

It all depends on you! My chickens come into my kitchen all the time. Sometimes poop happens, but it is tile and we clean it up. That being said, if you have ever once walked into your house without taking off your shoes, there are chicken poop particles already on your floor! If you want him in the house and don't mind occasional poop, go for it, but poop does contain bacteria, so the risk is yours to choose. I've had chickens for three years and have never been sick.

Also, I had a rooster Cogburn, too. He was a big sweetie!
