Not a Silkie ...

This chick was sold to us as silkie, but s/he is not (or is at least a mix). Any suggestions of what s/he might be? Also, I think s/he might be a rooster ... although it is hard to determine when I am unsure of the breed.

Definitely a feather footed, bantam breed. Distinguishing features include the feathers coming out from the leg joint? Unsure of terms there.



I actually bought two chicks from this farm supply store and both of them are the same breed. I keep a small blog just for family and have taken many pictures of them from the time we got them. Might help in IDing them?

That is not even a silkie mix. That is a d'uccle. And yes, a rooster.

Thanks so much. I have been researching bantam breeds and also thought d'uccle, but was unsure. Unfortunately, I cannot have roosters.

He is a pretty great little guy though.
