I realized this fall that some of my hens were going under the coop and laying eggs. I finally got around to closing off the underside of the coop several weeks ago. I expected to start seeing a few eggs in their nesting boxes, but nothing! I have 11 hens, 4 are this spring’s hatch. The young ones were giving me an egg a day until they all decided to go under the coop to lay their eggs. The coop is only 4-12” off the ground so I couldn’t get underneath to remove the eggs.
Since they no longer can lay under the coop why am I getting none!! I’ve checked the run and no eggs either.
WHATS UP!!

Do they free range at all? Check every little nook they could get into in the run if they don't free range. Any chance they were able to find a way past your blockade and back under the coop?

Also, are they molting? Eggs are pretty sparse for me too now, even in my pullets it's hit and miss by breed or mix.
