My rooster, an unknown breed who is a great guardian, has some sort of problem with his neck. He wiggles it down then stretched it out and then appears to "burp" for lack of better description. Wobbles his neck and then opens his beak as wide as he can is another description. Anyone with experience with this?
We are about to get aggressive with mites and I wondered if there might be a relationship between his infestation and his neck action. We plan to use seven dust since we already have some. Does anyone object to the seven?

Sevin is great for mites and lice on the chickens. Make sure you treat the edges of the coop floor. Pull the bedding away from the walls a few inches and dust lightly with the Sevin dust. Make sure the chickens are outside for a while. Push the bedding back against the walls. Put new bedding in the laying boxes after you've pulled out the old and dusted again. Mites love dark wooden corners. Dust the chickens like you always would.

When was the last time you wormed your birds? Your rooster might have gape worm but that's just a guess. If it is gape worm you have to worm them right away because it could suffocate him. He might also have a neurological problem.

DE and apple cider vinegar have been mentioned for deworming. Anyone have experience? Thanks, Carol

Apple cider vinegar is good for their immunity but I'm not sure about worms. DE is a good preventative for worms but will not get rid of them if the chickens have worms. You need a wormer for that.
