Not good.....*UPDATED WITH PICS*

I placed an order with Privett Hatchery for 1 dz st run mallards, 5 sexed hen mallards, 2 sexed drake mallards and 3 hen rouens. They were to ship last Wednesday and arrive for pickup at the local PO on Friday. Friday..no ducks. I checked my credit card and it had been charge so I called Privett and they said the ducks were shipped as scheduled and should have arrived Friday. I had to work Saturday so my son called the PO first thing Saturday and they had arrived. When he picked them up 14 were dead and several not in good shape. By Sunday morning all including the extras they shipped had died except for 3 st run mallards, 2 mallard hens and a mallard drake.

I called Privett the first thing this morning and explained the situation. The lady was very nice and told me the ducks should have been delivered on Friday and she did not understand why the shipment took 3 days. She said the entire order would be re-shipped on Wednesday and should arrive no later than Thursday or Friday. I guess we will see.

Oh by the way the 6 survivors are wild n fiesty and doing great.

here we go again.....I called the post office this morning and still no ducks. I called Privett to see if they had a tracking number so we could try to find out if they were at a postal facility near enough to drive and pick them up today. No tracking number so here we are back to picking up ducklings on the 3rd day after shipping again and without a doubt a lot of dead ducklings.

The lady at Privett told me to call back after they arrive and we will be looking at crediting me for the dead ducklings. I will not be ordering from Privett again as it is apparent they cannot get poultry delivered to southern Illinois within 2 days.

Between Cobden and Anna. The postmaster called the post office at Carbondale and they still have not arrived there.

I work for the post office. With all the flooding we are having the mail has been slowed down. Keep calling Carbondale and your local post office. Leave your phone number with them. Everything goes thru St. Louis first. They could be getting stuck there. Hope they are ok. Rural King in Carbondale had Rouens yesterday. They were unsexed and $4.99 each 5 min.

Yeah I bought some Rouens from Rural king in March and ended up with a 4 drakes to 1 hen ratio so that is why I ordered them from a hatchery sexed. I just picked the wrong hatchery. If it comes to a refund I will re-order from a hatchery in Mo or OH. If Privett can't get ducks to me alive there is no way they are going to get turkeys to me alive.

Did your ducklings come in? Mail has been behind very badly this week. I would not order from any hatchery right now. I would be very afraid they would not make it alive. Check on the doc tomorrow at the post office. Sometimes they leave live animals sit outside. Sorry to hear you had such bad luck with Rural King, I got five Campbells and got 3 girls and 2 boys. Maybe sometime we could split an order. I live close enough to come and pick them up. I was thinking about getting the August special from Sandhill. You could have the mallard and rouens if you like. Let me know what you think.

It worked out great. we got a call from c'dale po last nite at around 10 pm so we picked them up at the dock last nite. 1 dead and 1 died right after we got home. rest are doing great but they would have been in bad shape by this morning. they were starving and thirsty. i will post pics later. at work right now. may be interested in splitting.
