I purchased four buff orphington chicks/pullets last May. They’re a year old now and started laying before ‘winter’. We do not get much of one in central Florida. They were laying about two eggs a day between the four of them on average. Now we’ve gone months with barely one a day. A lot of days we get none. I had one hen go broody back in February. I finally gave her some eggs to sit on and those chicks are about a month old so I imagine she’ll begin laying again soon. I still feel like their laying is abnormal. No molting going on that I’m aware of. I am an inexperienced chicken owner so please correct me if I’m wrong. I’ve included a recent photo. Any input is appreciated. Thank you
Was on layer feed until recently. Now on starter/grower with oyster shell available at all times. I’ve noticed their yolks aren’t quite as vibrant. I assume the change in feed. I didn’t want to overdo it on calcium with the chicks. I also have eight 9 week old pullets. I’ve read that an all flock feed shouldn’t be fed to the younger chicks
