My 4 birds (An Americana, a Black austolorp crossed with Rhode Island Red, a golden sex link, and a Rhode Island Red crossed with a Rhode Island white) aren’t laying yet. We raised them from when they were chicks in early April, making them about 8 months old, but they still aren’t laying. Over the past couple of days, to try to get them to lay, I have cleaned the coop, changed the bedding in the nesting boxes, tried to make makeshift nests to show them what the boxes are for, and tried to add another nesting box in a different spot. Nothing has happened. Is there something I might be missing or are the chickens just taking longer to start lying. Any information would help.

Thanks

Pullets coming into POL at this time of year, shorter days and less light per day, usually won't start until spring when days become longer again... unless you hook up supplemental light in their coop on a timer, to come on either early in the morn or at dusk...
