Not laying

Soo one of my hens finally laid her first egg 2 days ago and hasn’t laid another. Is that normal? When should I get another? They have been squatting when I go up to them for about 2 weeks (well a few of them have) and I can tell they have been in the nesting boxes. I’m so excited I keep going out to check. Any advice?

Pullets are not predicable in their early laying. Odd shaped and odd sized eggs are not uncommon either, so give her a few days or weeks to slip into a normal rythym.

As long as she's active, alert, and eating/drinking normally, I wouldn't be worried...
