Sorry... I have to ask

At least 1 of my approx 3 week old chicks has incredibly stinky poo! I don't mean it smells if I don't clean the brooder... I mean when you open the door it takes your breath away!!

. There is loose brown poo, sometimes with just a bit of normal.
I feed Purina Medicated Start and Grow - that is what they have been on the whole time I have had them. Each day they split (between 5 of them) about 1/4 of a boiled egg or 2-3 blackberries. My other chicks (5 chicks between 5-6 wks and 4 at about 2 weeks) get teh same feed, treats and water source.

Please!! Help Save our air!!!!

ETA - ages
ETA again - changing title to see if someone will help me

Are you offering the chicks grit? They should have grit since you are feeding things other than chick starter (berries/treats).

Is the poo always the same - not the smell - but the form - runny?, solid? or?

Sometimes like people their systems are different from one another - sorry I am not very helpful.

There are 5 in the box where the problem is... so I am not sure if it is one chick all of the time or everybody... but there is normal poo sometimes. They have access to grit and they also have a little cardboard box bottom of dirt.

Well, maybe it is the medicated feed - upsets one of their systems? I do not feed medicated - I feed flock raiser, but do notice every once in a while I will get a stinky batch of chicks for a bit. Usually after I feed cabbage to the chicks

Yup. Good thing you have them in the bathroom, eh?

By the way, just in case you might have one of those scented candles in the bathroom, I wouldn't light it with the chicks in there. Sometimes the ingredients they put in those candles can be toxic to birds' efficient respiratory systems.

ok... good to know. I live in a mobile home so I don't light candles of any sort, but I might have been convinced to risk the fire hazard to escape the stench! lol
