Not quite new but have been gone for quite awhile

I have been gone for about seven years and decided to get back into chickens. Bought seven year old RR hens. Some guy near me gets old breeding stock from a major hatchery. I guess they only use the same hens for six months then get rid of them. This guy buys them by the hundreds and resells them... Anyway, I got them for seven bucks apiece which I think was a good deal. Got seven eggs today and they got to see the sun and eat some bugs. A win win situation. Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everybody.

Does sound like a good deal if they aren't bald, full of lice, mites, worms, diseases etc. and they truly are that young. I thought egg farms/hatcheries keep them till they are 2 years old and slowing down in the laying department.

Nope, these girls look good and are healthy.
