I am not a morning person. I woke up this morning to a sick DH and all the animals needing me for one thing or another. I am trying to rest for just a few minutes.
Last weekend I bought a huge crock water bowl. I love this thing! No more refilling the water dish every hour.
I just went to check on what was going on in the kitchen.
Kane had gotten ahold of Jax's large hard nylabone and was dropping it in the water dish, creating a splash. Jax would follow right behind him and grab the bowl out of the water dish, slinging water everywhere!
Anyone got an extra mop?

Once you get more than one dog, they tend to egg each other on. I can't have a big water bowl because my young dog Maggie likes to go swimming.

Oh yeah, completely understand. I have a fountain outside. Jax likes to get a drink out of it now and again. Kane discovered it yesterday and decided it's the perfect size for puppy swims.

Back when I got my 4th dog, I went out and bought a 10qt, huge metal water dish. It was great . But I couldn't figure out why there was so much water all around it. The tile around it was soaked. Well, turns out my second oldest Tervuren rescue decided it was cool (literally!) to take a drink, with BOTH front feet IN the dish. Ahhhh! Now that's livin'!

It might be aggravating right now, but in time, you will fondly remember these quirks

And I am loving reading about your kids!

I need to get another large crock, ours got broken a few years ago. Right now I have a large plastic bowl that I fill about 5 or 6 times a day, literally! With 5 dogs in the house, they go through a lot of water. In the summer, I get a bucket and keep that filled on the back porch too, keep that mess outside!

I can't have a large water dish because a couple of the Jacks like to swim......

Well we have a large pond and a smaller one. As soon as the weather warms a bit we're going to see how Kane likes swimming. We already know that Jax likes to stand at the edge of the pond and get his feet wet, but not swim. Maybe once Kane shows Jax that it's fun, Jax will join in too.

lol was gonna say least they wernt swimming.

my female crestie loves to watch water drip and has figured out ... i dip my paw in the water then i lift it up and watch it drip ... unfortunatly thats usually NOT into the bowl.
my male crestie likes to dig the water OUT of the bowl...yeah that ones fun!

and my parents cocker spaniel things the waterbowl is THE BEST place to store your toys, particularly the stuffies that soak up al the water...there even more fun to toss around the livingroom or leave at the top of the stairs when there SOAKED with water and make that squish sound...followed prompltly by "EWWWWW CHARLIE!" at which point the cocker comes over waggs his tail and repeats lol
