One of my DH's bantam buckeye eggs pipped early yesterday morning then stopped. No peeping, no movement despite another chick running around in the hatcher. DH was pretty sure it was gone lastnight then get up at 3 a.m. to check and there was no change. He came back to bed and said it had died. I got up at 5:30 to get ready for work and checked the already hatched chick. Looked in and called to DH, "Your dead chick has almost finished zipping." He ran in just in time to watch the chick literally throw the top of it's shell off and pop up like a jack in the box. When I left for work my still stark naked hubby was standing over the hatcher watching the new little one charging all over the place.

This has been a weird hatch. 1st chick was to big to manuver in it's shell enough to zip right then shrink wrapped. Dh helped it hatch.

Still 3 more eggs and today is day 23. Who knows if they will hatch.

the mental image of a naked man watching chicks hatch anxiously is too much! Congrats on the hatchies, and hopefully the other three kick themselves into high gear and hatch soon too!

LOL! That is too funny! I can't tell you how many times over the past few days I have jumped up half naked to peek on my eggs! LOL! I still have a few in there that are probably not going to hatch since it's now day 23 but I am waiting.... just in case.

Too funny! Good luck on the rest. You should name him after Not Dead Fred from Spamalot.
