We have 2 flocks approx. a month apart. 3 Red sexlink hens, 4 golden Wyonnette hens, (they are almost 6 months old) 4 buff Orpingtons, (they are almost 5 months old) and 1 silkie hen - she is our oldest she is a year old.
Red (red sexlink) I believe is the top hen of the older flock and Foghorn (Jersey Giant) being the rooster over his 4 orpingtons hens.(he is almost 5 months). We have put them side by side with fence between them for little over 2 weeks. We tried to integrate them a few times after that - it has been about a month of doing this - but Red's flock singles Foghorn away from his girls and they all jump him. When we let just a few hens out of Red's coop in with Foghorns there is little pecking and everyone seems ok. We are almost finished with the new small barn we plan to put all the chickens in together. My thoughts were to pull a few girls every couple days from Red and move over to Foghorn into new barn and yard. and put Red in last. Not sure if that is the way to go about it or if there is a better technique.
I do sometimes question if Red is hen or rooster due to the way she acts.
Any advice is welcome.

In your new set up, make sure that it is not just a bare open area. Put pallets up against a wall in several places making sure there are two ways out. Using a set of cement bricks place a pallet on top of that, smaller birds can get under it. Add some roosts. This will make it look cluttered, but it will be much more interesting to chickens. Saw horses, ladders, mini walls are also good addition. One needs to make sure a bird can get out of sight of other birds. Behind these put out multiple feeders.

Then I would put your less dominant birds in the set up for a couple of days. This lets them get comfortable without being chased or harassed. Then I would add the more aggressive birds, one or two at a time. They will still try and be mean, but the other birds will have figured out what to do.

Thank you, that was what I thought of doing, moving the docile birds in with rooster (he is very sweet) first, give them few days to settle and then move couple more until down to the 2 aggressive girls Red and Ginger.....Ginger is not as aggressive as Red so I figured we will make Red last......thank you for the sugesstions
