Not sure if it is avian pox or not

Hi , I have an Ancona Rooster (i Think) and it seems to developed a form of Pox as it has black spots appearing on its comb . The other problem with the comb is that it seems to be discoloured and has a bluey bblack colour at the rear third or so of it . Can anyone confirm if this is a form of pox or something else and the best treatment .

We can't really confirm without pictures, unfortunately. It's possible that the blackening at the rear of the comb is bruising and the fore of the comb is blood spots. However it's also possible that the blackening of the comb is due to stress and lack of oxygen, cyanosis (which sounds way worse than it is in this case), an indication of another illness or that the bird is fighting something inside.

Pox usually seems to present with sort of pimple or scab like raised areas if that help. But in any case the bird will need support: nutrition, hydration, immune support because he's stressed. Make sure he's eating well, passing good droppings indicating that he's eating well, and drinking well. Watch him carefully and let us know if anything changes in his demeanor.

This is also a good time to feed an egg yolk to him = well part of it. Also is a good time for probiotics if you use them to help him get more out of his food. If you suspect he's not drinking as much, using electrolytes can work. The non-iron baby vitamins are recommended here - see other posts for that. Or you can use the packaged chicken vitamins/electrolytes, or pedialyte.

Blood spots on the other hand are more flattened and solid black without the ashey look of the scabs.
