Good afternoon, I'm new to this sight, so I'd like to say thanks for any help before hand.. I am pondering on adding about 4 new chickens to my 2 year old flock of 8 chickens ( rhode island reds, and a few others)... I was wondering what others experiences were with Americanas, Brahmas, and Silver Lace chickens. Would they live a friendly life altogether, and are there any major concerns with adding them to a older flock? (I do have experience with adding new chicks to an old flock)
Thanks again for any help!!!

Thank you very much, I will get 2 americanana and 2 california whites. Do you think getting one silver lace would be a bad idea... kinda being the odd one out or would she fit right in?

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! What breed are you looking to get a Silver Laced bird in? Something like a Wyandotte or Cochin should be fine with the other breeds you mention, X2 if you mean a Polish you might have problems with her crest getting plucked etc.

I love this website! lol lots of great input.. I do not believe the silver laces chicks are the polish ones, so I take it they would be fine all together? And if it were the polish one (chickens with poofy head feathers) would they become used to the different chicken?

I don't think they would get used to a pouffy headed polish, the same thing applies to silkies. Perhaps if you had a few polish mixed in they would be less likely to get picked on.

Maybe someone coming along with have a mixed flock with polish and can give you better info. Good luck with your flock and Welcome to BYC,
