does anyone sell chickens half grown? I love chicks but our house is being remodeled for the next 3 months and I worry bout the chicks. I would like to just get half grown ( or ones who are laying the tiny eggs already. is this possible?

Yes! The first and easiest place to try is craigslist, you can almost always find someone selling laying hens. The other option is some hatcheries sell 17 week old pullets. Meyer hatchery and www.mypetchicken.com both have started pullets for sale right now. Your choices are limited for breeds but they do have them, I saw it on both their websites just last week!

nothing on craigs list and not the chickens we want at the other places, some places are out of everything LOL. Ok so we are back to chicks, now Im trying to find chicks and no where round here does any one have these! I found a lot on craigslist, but there to far away and will not ship or there sold out

Where are you located?? There are several farmers markets close to me that sell older chicks.

Im in Montana, and there are chicks, but there to far away and they will not ship, i had quality supply order me chicks but guess what? they sold them all so I thought why not pullets. well can not find those either. now I can not find chicks. I really want Buff orphingtons Australorps but nothing. I also want a rhode island red! Seems no chicks for us

Mypetchicken.com updates their inventory frequently based on actual number of eggs layed. Check the available dates on those breeds periodically and you may be surprised with an available date not too far off.

I have great success with Purely Poultry...I am sure they will ship to Montana and you could order the chicks you wanted.
