Not wrapping bumblefoot removal??

I took my chicken to the vet for bumblefoot but the doctor did not wrap it after removing the core and flushing, I asked if it should be wrapped but he said it did not have to. The swelling started to go down but now it is 4 days later and it is swollen again. I soaked the foot and peeled the scab off and squeezed out some puss. How do you know when you got all the infection out and should I wrap it if I’m unsure?

The usual procedure is to use a dressing of a 2x2 gauze covered with triple antibiotic ointment, and vet wrap/cohesive dressing. Change it every 2 days. Pictures of the foot between dressings may be helpful.
