So I live in a small neighborhood in the middle of farm land. Pittsburgh allows chickens, so does our local town, but I have been told by the zoning commission that our little group of houses is not zoned for chickens. There are two houses at the entrance to our community, both with free roaming chickens. I had thought of just getting some but several of our neighbors love causing trouble and call the township about every little thing. They once tried to call about my lawn chairs! I desperately want chickens, I have 4 kids and 1 on the way. I have been buying eggs from another backyard chicken owner but we go through over 5 dozen eggs a month. I also think the kids would love having them. We own .33 acres which is a large lot so its not like we dont have room. The zoning commission told me I would have to submit a revision with a $400 fee to try and change the zoning and that even then they most likely wont approve it! Any suggestions?
