We're arguing here whether better to leave the broodies be where they are or sequester them from rest of flock...or within the flock by putting screens over the boxes they're in. Realizing pix are needed: the 1st pic shows a pile where the broody had just got off, probably expecting i was coming with food, not just a camera. My POV is last time i covered one of those vertical entry boxes with a screen the broody freaked out, insisting to get out, in spite that i had just put food and water in the just enclosed box. My partner says she saw the #2 rooster pictured here trying to have his way with one of the broodies. Well 2nd fiddle has to take what he can get given he's consistently being chased away from the flock, partic during feedings and that's when i'm there. So I'm wondering how this is done to maximize success. I've got a few friends wanting to get into chickenry, so it's out of my own performance anxiety i'm speaking, pleading ? ? ? Much Thanks

I didnt have succes the first time my hen went broody because the other chickens keot putting her off to lay more eggs and she eventually gave up. This time when she went broody i seperated her from the rest of the flock (moving the eggs as well) and at first she seemed like she wasnt going to set but a couple hours later she got back on the eggs, i was concerned the eggs wouldnt be okay because she was off them for 1-2 hours but today we have 3 chicks hatched and 4 more on the way!
