Since the snow has kept my hens stuck in the coop the past few days, the egg production has gone up. They had to have been laying outside somewhere! In fact, Saturday morning, one of my girls was frantically trying to venture through the snow to the forest in spite of the deep loose snow. She ended up stranded under a bush in the deep snow with her wing extended out. She's lucky I saw her.
Maybe now they will get used to laying in the coop.

They will do that those sneaky little birds.

I had a hen disappear and I figured oh well, that's the way it goes. 27 days later she reappears then disappears again. The next day or day after she reappeared again with about 9 chicks following behind.

They surprised you and keep you guessing.

I have one that flies next door, lays her egg and then flies back. We keep trying to put her in the nesting box before she goes but that hasn't happened too often.
