I have been reading for months now about how chickens "squat" as they get closer to laying eggs. I thought that it just meant how my girls would hunker down as I pet them. Today I saw that real squatting is nothing like that, lol. At first I thought she was fluffing up to be agressive (the feathers on back of her neck went up). Then I realized that she was squatting! Wings out to the side a little, tail to one side, completely different from what I thought was squatting, lol.

A couple of mine just started doing that too. Now if they'd just start laying!

Must be a weird feeling for a hen the first time!
