Thanks alot you guys!

All the talk about your chicks pipping has got me itching.
I put 10 eggs in a makeshift aquarium on Tuesday just to see what would happen -- not really caring if it didn't work!
After 2 days, our first cool night caused the temp to drop to 96 -- I was disgusted.
So I bought an incubator and transferred the eggs Friday night.
I'm hoping now the eggs are still fine.
I will candle by Wednesday to make sure -- if not OK, I've been collecting more eggs to replace them with.

WHY did I have to keep reading the posts in this section???

I know what you mean! I swore I was going to stop hatching 8 weeks ago and I haven't stopped yet. It's not my fault!!! I am innocent. The only thing I have done is to keep reading the posts on this forum. It's just a sickness and we shouldn't be held responsible. The people on this forum are such sneaky enablers. It's just unbelievable!!! Oh, by the way, have you checked out eggbid.com and ebay - they have some nice eggs right now. . . .LOL

Even if i didn't read the posts here, my son is still right there beside me saying, 'I want some more hens for Turkey', that's his black wyandotte bantam.
So I've got 4 OEGB eggs and 6 from his mixed breed bantam hen X black wyandott.
I'm very interested now to see what they will look like.
I started out thinking if they didn't hatch, it was no big deal.
But once i put them in the aquarium, i was hooked all the way.
I decided then to start collecting more eggs in case the temp drop messed them up.
Now, I'm waiting for my son's white cochin bantam to start laying so i can hatch some of those.

I am totally hopeless at this point.

I have encouragement every way I turn.

Oh, by the way, have you checked out eggbid.com and ebay - they have some nice eggs right now. . . .LOL

I was just sitting on my hands not to bid on ebay. I was going to post how do you not buy them?....but I guess you don't.

I don't even have an incubator and I am sitting here thinking...ok I have an old ice chest that I can convert.......

I have 7. Well if you hear my DD talk I have 2 ,she has 2, my ds has 2, and my dh has 1 (because he really isn't happy about the chickens). But in reality I have all 7... they're mine all mine! evil laugh

I have 4 bantams and 3 standards.

I candled tonight and about half looked good.
There were several I couldn't tell anything, so maybe still a little early.
There were several that appeared to be a blood ring although I'm not real sure exactly what that would look like.
I think I'll candle again in 3 or 4 days before I discard any.
