Now, I've Seen It All....5 wk old Precocious Cockerel

My broody Nugget is back with the flock and her son she raised is almost 5 weeks old, living in the dog crate with his brother, who was raised by a different broody. Nugget was pacing the fence so I let her out and let him out with her. He was the happiest little rooster I've ever seen....then, I was stunned when I saw him tap his feet back and forth and drag his tiny wing at his mama! There was no mistake what he was doing and I think it's the wildest thing I've seen since he came out barred from his Blue Orp dad and RIR/Buff Orp mama.

I've seen actual mating behavior from an eight week old, but this is the first toddler-sized rooster dance Ive witnessed.
