I know that a hen, in the absence of a rooster, will take on the roll. I've lost a rooster in my flock twice, and each time I've had a hen crow from time to time, but I had no idea that they would actually mount another hen?! I saw Lucy squat for Thelma the other day and though "hmmm?", but I just saw Thelma hop on top and actually try to mate with her. She was doing exactly what a rooster does. She even had a bit of feathers in her mouth when she was done.

Seriously? Is this normal? I could understand one taking the roll as protector and leader...but this too?
