I want to buy some chicks from Atwoods. Atwoods gets their chicks from Ideal Poultry. I have my NPIP certificate. Is my receipt from Atwoods sufficient to say the chicks were NPIP

I'd call your state NPIP and ask if you need anything specific. I'd need a receipt from the NPIP flock. Word of mouth where the birds came from prior to cash receipt wouldn't mean anything to VT Ag. Dept. Maybe Atwoods will give you a copy of the NPIP paperwork they received.

No. The birds now belong to you not to Ideal or Atwoods poultry. NPIP is an ongoing program that is intended to protect the health of all poultry flocks commercial as well as back yard ones.

Infact ALL chickens or eggs shipped in Interstate Commerce are supposed to come from NPIP certified flocks, so what is to prevent an unscrupulous individual from representing that his or her flock is NPIP certified just because that person ordered day old chicks from a NPIP certified flock 20 years ago?
