Her crop is not bloated, squishy or smelly, she feels deflated. I noticed her drinking a lot of water before bed last night and again this a.m. but didn't come for treats last night -millet - or today- herbs. I let her out on her own and she was pecking in the yard then had a bm that was soft stool with urea plop in the middle of a puddle of water. She's lethargic, sitting on my lap now, temp 103•.
I see no injuries other than small brown scabs where she's been pecked, once hard enough it's bruised.
Prior to last night she was fine. No lice, no mites, vent is clean, no drainage,no sneezes or heavy breathing. Her waddles/skin color are normal other than the bruising.
Something had them all riled up yesterday afternoon, staring out in field screaming. When I went in they went in coop, I locked everything up and they were quiet after that. I thought mb I wasnt accurate on where crop is bc that seemed most likely, but it's not full, etc. I went ahead and massaged it and hear a clicking so something must be moving but its not squishy either. My bird feels deflated.

So after I had written that and finished massaging her crop, she hopped down, walked around not cimebacking - a 1 syllable sound/alert, then plopped this on my porch. Not nearly as runny as this a.m. I'm hoping the green is from all the grass she'd eaten earlier? She walked around for about 45 min free ranging and eating.
Meanwhile, I went back and checked their feeders, and one had gotten moisture in it so all food disposed of and feeders scrubbed and bleached. They have no food in there at the moment but I put in greens and herbs. 🤷‍♀️ 20221012_145145.jpg

Do you have a vet that you can take a fecal sample to for a parasite check?

I didn't contact a vet. By reason of deduction, I dumped the nutridrench last night and started corid. She slept inside, left me a nasty package this a.m., and then started eating and drinking and squawking loudly at dogs to be quiet. So, :fl:fl
May not be the approved method, but sat up reading last night and nothing else fit.
I assume I should tx everyone? She nor the boys were never sick or tx, the 7 were- in regards to prior exposure & developing immunity.

Your adults should have developed immunity to your own species of coccidia by now. However, a short course of amprolium is unlikely to do harm…

Thank you for your input. Still learning.:th I also thought they should have developed an immunity. The only rational I have is that in 11 months, the 1st 5 she lived inside, then lock down in new coop, then fencing and bird flu restrictions, hens sequestered, going broody and switching to sand. Maybe she hadn't developed an immunity? I remember reading that mild exposure may not lead to sickness, but doesn't lead to immunity.
Just to toss in more zingers- someone posted dropping pic that looked a bit like her 1st one, a puddle of water w@ bit of feces and cloudy w/ urea swirls. Someone asked if she had been dewormed.
I hadn't thought of that. I do annual deworming, did it a little over a week ago. Have never had it have any effect on my birds so didn't even think of it. But if that's what caused it, would it take that long to do it?
Time to make some decisions because I know she needs to get back outside to claim her spot. So either everyone gets tx w/corid or her tx is stopped.
She's eating, drinking, crop no longer feels deflated, she's perked up,stools are normal since the nasty one 24° ago and chirps are normal.

If you’re asking what I would do, I try probiotics first and think a fecal exam is worthwhile. If you have a good relationship with your vet or diagnostic lab, you should be able to drop off a sample for a modest cost. Coccidia as well as wormy parasites are seen on fecal exam. Just to check basics - all the birds have access to grit?

Yes, always take for granted that if I'm posting, I'm asking for guidance.😊 yes, in addition to what's in the sand, I put out chick grit ("chick" just because I'm finishing up my supply of it).
On hold w/vet's office now...once I explained what a guinea fowl is....asked her to please hpjust go ask older vet. :gig Taking it in now. 😘

Coccidiosis for the win! 🦠
That was a fun trip. Lol.
"Tell me what's going on, I assume this is a young bird, but there are very very few present, so what symptoms..."
Shocked look on face when I said she'd be 1 yr next month until I explained her hx, agreed with symptoms I described, & that decreased #s & resolved symptoms bc I'd already started the corid.
Debatable over treating the others, but either she stays in or they all get treated. Now that she feels better, sitting in a box is no fun, and she went right to dustbathing when I took her out, and I'd hate to have to roast all of them if they turn on her. Lol..Himself would hate to have a permanent house guinea!

If you decide to treat the others as well, it will not be harmful to them if they don't need it.
