Thanks for all the information! I am hatching ducklings next. During that time we are going to be gone for about 36 hrs. I will have someone stop by to check on my other animals but she won't be able to keep checking on the incubator. So I was looking into this method so hopefully I wont have to worry about them for that day or so.

This is my 2nd or 3rd try doing this with the last hatch.

What shoestring and size jar do you feel works best? I saw you have tried a few.

I really like the big 5lb pickle jars. The 1/2 gallon canning jars just don't regulate the humidity enough. The 1/2 gallon jars work great for port B after lockdown.

I will after the chicks in there hatch. It is around 3 weeks in so will have time to check and be sure
