3 weeks into turning my little corner of paradise into a farm, we have 5 layers.... now, 2 Americanaus and 3 light Brahama.

I ended up starting with pullets because of the late start in the season I had. Built a coop out of old packing crates, measures just under 6'x6', 5' at the peak.

Lot's of fun so far, just got them to eat out of my hand last night. Everyone is eating, drinking and leaving little piles all over the place, so far so good.

Looking forward to lots of good egg recipies.

Well, hello John and welcome from OHIO! Love both of those breeds! Now you can look forward to those first eggs......The very light blue eggs are such a thrill to see for the first time.

Take care,
Sharon

The run is temporary till this weekend when the permanent one gets built and the coop gets moved to it's permanent site.

The roof still needs rake boards and facia boards, then the roofing will be glued down, no nails into the coop from shingles, there are 3 nesting boxes out the back, the roof over hangs 18" front and rear, 12" on the sides
