Oatmeal

Hey all, my chicks are now a week old and I would like to know if I could feed them oatmeal. Is this okay or will it give them pasty butt.

I have found oatmeal to work great with all my babies. Just start out slow
with a little bit at first.

I raised ducklings on oatmeal and scrambled eggs. I would think you could give it to chicks too.

raised ours on a mix of oatmeal and ground sunflower hearts, plus occasional yogurt & boiled mashed egg-yolk...

Pasty butt is usually from eating wood shavings/paper

Does the oatmeal have to be plain. Or can it be like brown sugar

just the cheap big round carboard boxes of rolled oats (we get ours at Save-a-lot for around $1.50)
raw, or cooked then cooled-- they love it..
but those flavored packet contain a lot of stuff that may not be the best for them...???
