I'm looking for a small treat for our 2 hens. How bad would a little of this oatmeal be? The only other human food they have had is plain greek yogurt which they went crazy over.

On the coldest winter days, I give them a bedtime snack of warm oatmeal mixed with grubbies, BOSS, chopped berries or veggies(whatever I have). they can go to bed with full tummies that will help warm them. Usually only couple Tablespoons per hen- since there are 8 right now, I give a cup of oatmeal then mix in the other stuff. I have to sprinkle it around the yard because I have a couple of food hogs.

Ha ha...oatmeal or yogurt are my two "go to" breakfasts when I'm not having eggs...maybe I'm part chicken. :p

My flock got several boxes of baby oatmeal mixed with warm water this afternoon around 3 or 3:30. We're in a cold stretch (was in the teens most of today, with snow on the ground and more coming tomorrow) so I think a little warm treat before bed is much appreciated.

My flock is bigger than your average backyard flock (~75 hens) so even a dozen boxes of baby food was quickly consumed and enjoyed.
