Ok I got a bad , bad obsession. We have 16 hens of laying age and I get a dozen eggs a day now( yeah me who was freaking out just a few month's ago cause they wern't laying). We have two roos covering those hens one slw and one bjg . Well I went to my local feed store and bought 12 pullets of three verieties americanas, bo, and red sexlinks. Then I went back to the lady at the feed store( she see's $ signs when I walk in) then I got two silkies and four delaware's and then this morning I went back to LOOOK!!!! Well then I come home with two wellsummers and three geese I have no idea what they are. MY HUBBY IS GONNA KILL ME!!!!!!!!!!!! So I am starting a group for bird obsession anyone need to join?

Oh and if your keeping count I also forgot to tell ya I ordered four cuckoo marans and 12 production reds from ideal . I lost one baby red so I still have 11 in the house in a tub. Oh and I have 19 duckies in the bator to hatch on friday . They are applyard and pekin mix.

Congrats on your addiction!

Perhaps next, you should get some real Ameraucanas (feedstores and hatcheries sell crossbred chickens called Easter Eggers, not Ameraucanas) and some real Marans. (if you get some Black Coppers from a breeder, you won't turn back.

)

I know that when I started, I had 9 normal brown layers with a couple polish who laid white eggs. Then, I expanded to 20 chickens - Still brown and white, because our Easter Egger also lays brown eggs. . . Then, I found loads of breeders and loads of info about different breeds and what is the real thing, so I began buying hatching eggs. Our numbers increased to 32 chickens.

Next Friday, we'll have over 40 chickens. . . By The following Wednesday, we'll have over 60 chickens, with still more hatching eggs on the way!!

I am obsessed also I keep calling our local coop to see what they get in, then run down and grab a few, so far I have 4 easter eggers, 1 SLW, 2 australorps, 2 pekin ducks, 1 buff rock. And I want more, I really want more SLW or Barred rocks. We live in the city so we are limited on how many we can get

funny you should say that omrun we are building another coop now but it's goin so slow. My builder has many other jobs lol.
