Well, I guess I have to thank wifezilla for these... she had so much good to say about them that I called Metzers a month ago and ordered some WH ducklings. They are very cute and hopefully will make some good pets for my 4yo son who shares my obsessive compulsive tendancies.

CUTE!!!!

Did you order all girls? I am seeing a lot of pink bills and that means girls!

That means lots of delicious eggs. The fats in the duck eggs are really great for people with interesting brains

If your ducklings stay true to form, yours should be mostly black and white. Two of mine are brown and white, but they were more gold and had no black on them as babies. They will most likely look like my Shelley...

Handle them a lot as babies so they will be as friendly as possible. Mine are pretty friendly, eat from your hand, etc... but the older they get the less they like being touched. That is pretty normal though.

One thing I used to do when they were little is lay in the grass on a towel on my stomach. Then I would take the ducklings out and put them in front of me between my arms. They would hide under my chin and then dart out to explore and then dart back between my arms if anything scared them.

Not only was this funny as all get out, it kind of mimicked what a mama duck would do and allowed them to view me as their protector. It also allowed them to interact with me more since I was closer to their level rather than looming above them.

I ordered 1 male and 4 females. I am hoping they look like yours, that's why I went with Metzers. I am planning on building a small play area this weekend just a foot or so tall and maybe 6' x 6' so that we can take them out in the yard and I can put my son and the ducks in there to play. Hopefully they'll stay as tame as yours so we can feed them and they don't run and hide from us.

So cute! I'm completely sold. I've been reducing my flock. I'm going to get down to just the Swedes and in spring I'm getting WH! I just love my ducks to be ornamental and give me lots of eggs.

They are gorgeous!

The play area sounds great

Have fun spoiling your duckies rotten! (Remember....they loved thawed out frozen peas)

New pictures... it's hard to believe they were only two weeks old this past Monday. They have grown 8-10 times in size... I swear you could watch them get taller...
