I have 3 - 22 week old RIRs, two are picture perfect, beautiful color, healthy, friendly, good layers. The other one from the same feed store batch is bigger and darker, especially her head and neck, almost black, and aggressive like a rooster. She does the jump/flap/kick if you get near her, she chases the dogs, just generally disagreeable. She has no comb or wattles to speak of, barely a trace of red on her face, and she's not started laying yet. I'm sure at 22 weeks I'd know if she was a rooster, but what the heck? Has she just assumed 'rooster duty' as queen of the flock? Maybe an oddball breed?

She turned her head at the last second, but you can tell she's bigger and darker with no comb.

Oh, and that's yogurt they're eating.
