Oddly colored barred rock, hen?

Unsure exact age. Got from tsc Aug 31, no one there that day was sure.

I have 4. 3 are almost identically dark and barred. This one is paler with less definition to color. Could that designate her as a hen?

Actually BR cockerels are generally lighter. However, I'm not entirely certain that is a pure-bread BR based on the coloring.

Sorry, I just read that you are unsure Hmm, I was thinking cockerel (Barred rock roosters are light in color). But I believe that yours would have a bigger comb if it were a boy

It's not a purebred Barred Rock. She's not extended black with barring. She's silver-based partridge with barring.
She'll look similar to these hens once grown.

Well that's a real pretty bird. These 4 were the last "barred rocks" in the bin at TSC, guess they could gave been 2 weeks. I haven't had chickens for over ten years so i can only guess.

Same thing happened to another person on this site too regarding chicks from TSC. Thought they were getting Barred Rock pullets, ended up with two crossbred pullets and a Barred Rock cockerel.
And those are a few different hens, I've been playing with the barring gene in my Easter Egger lines.

These were straight run. I'm sorry did I understand right, you think those are pullets? The one in front has the biggest comb of the lot.
