I had a bantam cochin rooster. he was a beauty. The green in his feathers reflected so pretty in the sun. He had a gorgeous comb, feathered feet and legs, and a personality that I'd just love to recapture. He was aptly named feather-boots.

His main attraction that I saw was that this rooster liked to dance. He had one mean bone in his body and that was his dislike for the other rooster in the flock.

He would get up in the morning, stretch and crow a few times and get a few bites to eat and head out the coop and start dancing. He'd dance and cluck, strut and scratch and he'd be the only one awake. He'd spin like a top until one of the hens would finally peer bleary-eyed out of the coop and see what the fuss was all about. He was a gentle rooster too. None of the hens suffered from too much attention.

Ahh, little feather boots, I was so sad when we had to move, and I had to give you away.

I miss my dancing chicken.

Ravishaw - Did you inform the new owners of his 'specialty'? If not, I would!

See, now, Mr. Feather-boots can share his passion for dancing with a whole new audience! It's like all his jokes are funny again!

But I understand your heartbreak...

Perhaps the new foster parents could send you a video of it? Or post it on you-tube for all the world to share?
