I have seven bantams that are between 10-11 weeks old. I am positive four are cockerels. This morning, as the boys began their pitiful attempts at crowing, this little one made a couple of crowing sounds. For the love of all things holy, please tell me she is actually a SHE!

I have a welsummer who confused the heck out of me when she started crowing at 5 months. It wasn't exactly a crow, but a wail, kind of like what cockerels do when they're trying to figure their voices out. Welsummers have very sex-specific feathering, so I was sure she was female... but.. then I was confused and not as sure. She did turn out to be female, lays lovely eggs, and still makes the wailing noise. We call her Moaning Myrtle. (Almost went with Wailin' Jenny... maybe you can use that name.)
