As mentioned in another post, I've just found out that my OEG BB Red is actually Wheaton. I bought him some Red girls this past weekend, with hopes of chicks in the spring. Now that I know I don't have a matched set, what color(s) can I expect to get from any hatches? I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't get the right color girls for him, but don't want to call my whole breeding program a loss here.

Well, the BB red roos are really almost the same as Wheaton/the hens are different... according to the hen here, this is a wheaton pair. I guess if you are seriously breeding for specific color it might not be good but I imagine you'd get some lovely chicks anyway. We are just smitten with these two.-

I've had Buddy (nicknamed 'Pick-pick' from the sound he makes) for about 2 1/2 years now, and he's my rotten little kid. I couldn't part with him for anything.

Two of the girls I got him are Reds, but one is a sport. She's white where she should be brownish-black. I was told that this is the color they use to make fawn or chocolates, so I got her to see what would happen. I'm guessing since Wheaton and Red are so closely related, that I'll probably get some of both, along with the fawn.
