some posted about the % of roos in st run chicks from ideal hatchery but lets not just judge ideal , whats your #s from any and all hatcherys you ve ordered from

so all in all we ve been pretty lucky with the hatcherys and we currently have an order with metzer farms for 20 ducklings will see how that goes if this thread is still alive

Cackle Hatchery, some straight run and some sexed.

Delaware - ordered 5 pullets. Got 4 pullets and 1 rooster.

Australorp - ordered 10 pullets. Got 10 pullets.

Speckled Sussex - ordered 6 straight run. Got 2 pullets and 4 roosters.

Buff Orpingtoms - ordered 6 straight run. Got 7 pullets. The packing peanut was a pullet.

My first chicks BR were ordered 6 pullets & 6 SR. Got the 3 roos you would expect, don't know what hatchery, as they were ordered thru a feed store. This year ordered 25 SPR bantams and got 27 plus 1 sebright. Had 13 roos & 11 pullets in the SPR & 1 sebright hen. 2 died in the first two days, so Murray McMurray was pretty close to 50%. I felt pretty lucky.

My orders from Ideal have been straight run and about 60% pullets to 40% roosters.

My McMurray order ---- all pullets, I received 2 roosters.

Im ordering 25 barred rock pullets, 25 ideal 236 pullets and 25 black sex link pullets for ship next week. I think they are a good company. ANy complaints and they fix it. Leave a message and they call back.

alright from metzer farms on ducks i can sex now its 1 to 5
1 drake to 5 ducks

I ordered 6 surprise special pullets from Ideal a couple of years ago and they actually sent me straight and billed me for straight run.I called them and they refunded me the price of all 6 and I still ended up with 3 Barred Rock pullets and 2 Production Red pullets and only 1 roo.I came out good on that deal.

Purely Poultry is the only hatchery I buy from straight run has always had more pullets than roosters and occasionally a rooster in an all pullet order but no one is perfect.Their chicks are always alive and very healthy which is my biggest factor.

I ordered 2 of the Rainbow egglaying special from MPC so 50 pullets and 3 extra males. Out of the 50 Pullets. 4 are males.
