Hello, I have had quail now for several months. Still working on improving my standards to give the birds everything to comfortable and healthy to produce good quality eggs for consumption at this time.

My birds are not of full bread but mostly look like japanese coturnix and a mix of texas a and m.

Recently I got an egg that is very small in size and is all white. I have never gotten an egg from my birds like this, they usually are alot bigger and have brown hue to them with spots everywhere.

Is this egg bad ? Is the bird sick?
What is this trying to tell me?
Should I toss this egg and not eat it ?

Thanks for the help!
Happy quailing!

Sometimes you get irregular eggs. Since it's white, it simply missed the part where pigment is applied. The small size sometimes happens. If it's very small, it's what's known as a "fairy egg" which usually doesn't contain a yolk.

Your birds are all one breed. Coturnix, probably coturnix japonica. If sounds like you are describing colour variations, which many people mistake for breeds.

If it was layed by a A&M hen, it will be a white egg.
