After getting an incubator from a friend I went and purchesed 20 Delaware eggs from a local farm (great farm). Once I got home I found an email from them saying that after a massive crop of eggs the ones I got might be about 50% fertile. No worries...
So I went and bought another 24 RIRs.
The hatch is staggered by 2 days, not a problem...I am brave for a first timer!
Well after about 5 days i candled a few to see what was brewing...nothing...day 6....nothing.....day 7 nothing.
At this point I am getting a bit nervous... but last night, day 8, I finally say some action! Little blobs and blood vessels. Now I am psyched!
I know I was candling them a bit much but I am nervous and impatient. But now I am more subdued...happy to see I may in the end have a few chicks!
I would post pics but I live in the middle of nowhere with dial-up for service.
Hatch day for Delawares is 5/18 and RIRs is 5/20!
I and my family are very pumped!
